Why This Exists

Lens Escaped began with a simple question: what happens when you stop and talk to a stranger?

This project exists because of curiosity about people, about the lives happening all around us that we never see, about the extraordinary things hiding inside ordinary days.

It started in Dunedin, New Zealand. A small city at the bottom of the world, full of people with stories worth telling. Every portrait here is an encounter. Every story is real.

This is not a photography project. Photography is just the way in. The real work is listening.
