About Lens Escaped

About the Project

Why This Exists

Lens Escaped began with a simple question: what happens when you stop and talk to a stranger?

This project exists because of curiosity — about people, about the lives happening all around us that we never see, about the extraordinary things hiding inside ordinary days.

It started in Dunedin, New Zealand. A small city at the bottom of the world, full of people with stories worth telling. Every portrait here is an encounter. Every story is real.

This is not a photography project. Photography is just the way in. The real work is listening.
